Senate Passes Gay Rights Bill

A gay rights bill is headed to the House after bipartisan approval in the Senate.
The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA, aims to prohibit workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Indiana Republican Dan Coats voted no, saying the measure leaves religious organizations vulnerable to liability.

The legislation faces a steeper climb in the Republican-led House.Speaker John Boehner opposes it.

A spokesman for Boehner says the bill would provoke "frivolous litigation and cost American jobs."
