Not Just Another Hero

During the German American and WZDM "Kids on the Move" program on Tuesday there were a lot of things to do and see. The Burn House from the Vincennes Fire Department was as interesting to the adults as the kids. If you haven't seen it, catch it next time. The fire fighters set a room on fire and explain the process from the need for smoke alarms to the final dragging of the burnt and soggy mattress out of the structure. The Red Cross was there showing parents how to correctly install a car seat and secure a child - very valuable any time, but there was way more interest yesterday.
There were other educational and just fun areas, but the star of the show was the Police Dog. Actually it was a Knox County Sheriff's Dog and like most stars the dog knows what stardom is all about. The dog playfully posed and always got his best side toward the camera. As many adults as children waited for the chance to get up close and personal. It was a neat feature of a neat event that thanks to German American and the rest of the participants was free.
The deputy dog did look longingly at the WZDM microphone. I wonder if he was thinking of a bone or maybe having his own radio show?
