The Indiana State Health Department says lab tests found no unusual chemical or substances in a package of Original Skittles that were believed to have sickened two people in Richmond. Possible contamination of two lots of Original Skittles was determined when field-testing showed preliminary chemical results on March 5th. Those results could not be substantiated as no toxins were found in the candy in the lab tests. As a result, the Indiana State Police are closing the investigation. The packages of Original Skittles have been determined not to contain toxins and are safe to eat. The Indiana State Department of Health continues to investigate the cause of illness.
