Mac Users Fighting Malware

As a Mac user, I've always been relatively confidant about being protected from most viruses and malware infestations that are out there. Now, there's malware that is infecting a number of Mac users around the world.

The Flashback malware has hit over half of Mac users in the United States. It's designed to look like an update to the popular Adobe Flash Player. The intent is to collect your personal information. It takes advantage of some flaws in Java. One of the simplest ways to protect yourself is to disable Java. If you cannot work without Java, make sure it is the most up-to-date version.

CNET and F-Secure have some good tutorials on how to find out if you've been infected and how to remove the malware if you have been infected. In the meantime, make sure your system is updated and check the App Store for some good security programs to help keep your Mac clean.
