Knox Co. Jail Could House Federal Inmates

The Knox County Jail could house federal inmates in addition to its complement of local and state prisoners.

Sheriff Mike Morris says he has started the application process to determine if the jail meets stringent guidelines for housing federal prisoners..

Morris says the jail now has about 30 spare cells to house federal prisoners and generate additional income for the county.

The State of Indiana currently pays Knox County about 35-dollars a day to house state inmates.
