IL: Puppy Lemon Law Headed to Governor
The so called "Puppy Lemon Law" is headed to Governor Pat Quinn for his consideration.
The legislation, sponsored by State Senator Dan Kotowski of Park Ridge, is meant to protect consumers who spend big bucks on a dog or cat at a pet shop…only to find the animal is ill.
It gives customers who discover their new pet is sick 21 days to either return the animal, get a refund, or be reimbursed by the pet shop for veterinary care.
The bill does not apply to pets adopted from animal shelters.
It still must be signed into law by the governor.
