The Gibson County Prosecutor filed formal charges of murder and attempted murder against a Francisco man Thursday afternoon in connection with the shooting death of the man's ex-girlfriend's father. The shooting took place Wednesday night when 23-year-old Austin Blaize went to his ex-girlfriend's home in Fort Branch.
Police say Blaize first attempted to shoot his ex's new boyfriend, but his gun jammed.
While fleeing the home, he fired several shots, one of them hitting the girl's father 47-year-old Terry Monier, who later died at an Evansville Hospital.
Blaize was arrested at his grandmother's home in Francisco.
Prosecutor Robert Krieg tells the Princeton Daily Clarion it's possible additional charges will be filed.
