Famed Gulf War U.S. General Schwarzkopf dies: former President George H.W. Bush

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. General Norman Schwarzkopf Jr, who headed coalition forces that drove Saddam Hussein's army out of Kuwait in Operation Desert Storm, has died, former President George H.W. Bush said in a statement on Thursday.
Bush said he and his wife Barbara "mourn the loss of a true American patriot and one of the great military leaders of his generation," according to a statement released by the former president's spokesman. (Reporting by Ian Simpson; Editing by Stacey Joyce)
