Diabetes Cases in Illinois Expected to Continue Upward Climb
The number of people with diabetes in Illinois is expected to rise.
State Public Health Director Doctor Lamar Hasbrouck says the number of adults diagnosed with diabetes rose 60 percent between 1995 and 2010…and will likely climb by another 25 percent by 2020.
Hasbrouck says too many people are not eating healthy…not getting enough exercise…and not getting regular check-ups.
That can lead to diabetes and even more serious health problems such as kidney failure, blindness, heart attack, stroke and amputation.
