Because it is an election, the majority of the voters are happy this morning. The races in Vincennes this time were as the candidates promised after the Primary - fair, honest, and even nice. One promise kept. Now the real work begins. Joe is not longer Joe - he'll be Mayor Yochum and he'll have to serve all the citizens of Vincennes - not just those who voted for him. Now the City Council will have to tackle the tough issues facing our town without a "wait until after the election" mentality.
Many Republicans were touting the younger people running for Vincennes office and they were right. This year a lot of new, fresh faces were making their bids for office and a number won - from both parties. Chuck Sebring, Tim Salters, and even TJ Brink who is a bit older will add a new outlook at the table.
FInally congratulations to Terry Seitz and Denny Spinner - two kids I taught and knew as fine young men when they were students in broadcasting at Vincennes University back in the early seventies. Terry won the Jasper mayor's job last night and his friend Denny won the mayor's job in Huntingburg the same night. Nice job boys - er men.
