Boating Accident Results In Death



Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a boating accident on the Ohio River that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Boonville man.

According to investigators, Garrett Ward, became entangled in the propeller of a boat as it was backing away from an island.

Ward was pronounced dead at the scene by the Daviess County, Kentucky Coroner.

Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the incident.

The driver of the boat, 22-year-old Chrispher Payne of Boonville, was arrested for Boating While Intoxicated Causing Death, a Class “C” Felony.

The accident remains under investigation.

Upon completion, the case will be turned over to the Spencer County Prosecutor’s Office for review and consideration of additional charges.
