Two Dead After Being Caught in Floodwaters

Police agencies and Indiana Conservation officers from the Department of Natural Resources had been searching for a 22-year-old woman and a 5-year-old child after their car became submerged in flood water in Monroe County.

Police say, Jana Payton and Bronson Liggett were reported missing before 10:00 o‘clock Saturday morning.

Searchers combing the White River flood waters in an area near Moon Road and Sand College Road in Gosport found their bodies Saturday afternoon.

The driver of the car, who police did not identify, swam to shore to call for help.

The victims could not swim.
